Post-it Note Holders with Mini Pens

These are the best!!! I loved making them!! Thanks to Kerry's Paper Crafts, a blog I've been following, I was able to recreate my own!! My only problem has been finding the mini pens. I've tried EVERY possible  store that could carry them and I have had no luck. As a crafter and educator you learn to improvise-so that's what I did. Well, tried anyway. I purchased some mini pens but quickly found out they were to thick to fit through the pen holder (I already had the one  shown on the picture). I still used the ones I purchased but since they referenced Staples in the site, I'll be buying them from them when I go to San Antonio in two weeks! That will save me shipping fees! =)
Aside from that little glitch, they are so cute, simple, and best of all- fun to make!! Thanks for the ideas!

Mini Memo Boards

During the summer I participated on an online scrapbooking camp from Creating Keepsakes. I was so happy that I and many other scrapbook lovers were able to join in a week's worth of fun and enticing activities. Among those actvities was an easy memo board idea. So this past week I took those ideas and created three of my own boards.

This one resembles the one used as a demonstration

I made this one for my classroom.

If you would like to try making this project, check out the link at Creating Keepsakes. Enjoy!

A brand new school year!

Summer is almost over and a brand new school year is just right around the corner! Did you set yourself new goals? Did you reflect on what you wanted to change for this year? Was one of them to organize your classroom? Or maybe just add a little flair to your teacher's corner? Well then, this assignment is just for you! What better way to accomplish some of your school goals than to organize your classroom and have a little fun as well! Here's your homework assignment for you to get inspired and kick off the school year right. Don't forget to check this off your homework list! Have an awesome school year!!

Don't you always have students asking you (in the middle of your lesson) "I don't have a pencil!", "I can't find my pencil, teacher." or "I need a pencil-I don't have anything to write with." My solution to this nuisance is- having a pencil cup with pencils for the students to get one when they need one without interrupting the lesson or the class. Well, I found this pencil cup holder for a dollar. It was the perfect size and width to hold some pencils in my classroom. After looking at it for a while, I thought - Why don't I cover it in theme paper? Luckily, I found the perfect sheet to go with it! I had my doubts about it working with the ModPodge because it had a pourous surface. Good thing it worked even though it was a messy project! My eldest daughter liked it so much, she wants me to do the same to their pencil cup holder! So I am. :)

School Days Container

I never make anything for myself, but I had a great idea to decorate the jar that one of my student's gave me last year (it was filled with candies that I didn't even eat!) I personalized the jar with fun foam letters and will make its home on top of my desk. I plan to use it to hold student names for raffles. Maybe a word jar I learned about in a summer workshop I attended last month. The possibilities are endless. This container can have many uses...use your creativity! What will you come up with?

Teacher's Appreciation Gifts

Hello Kitty Paint Cans

School Days Paint Cans

For Teacher's Appreciation Week I wanted to give my children's teachers a gift that I knew they could use in the classroom. Being a teacher myself, I know how much we need to be resourceful when it comes to purchasing supplies for our classrooms. I started saving a coffee can to place the "gifts" inside the can, but when I found the perfect gifts for them I realized that they were too big to fit inside. I took a trip to Hobby Lobby and luckily found the perfect size of cans that I needed-and in a twist of fate, I was saw that they were on clearance so I purchased the last four from the shelf for $2.00 each! Yes, that's right!!

All I did was measure and cut the theme papers to size. Covered the paper with Mod Podge (as you would with regular glue) using a sponge brush. Let it dry a little and repeat the process again over the paper to create a glossy look. You can also purchase the matte bottle if you don't want a glossy look. Then use coordinating ribbon around the cans to "seam" the edges. Let completely dry. Finally tie various ribbons around the handle and fill with gifts. Inside I placed plastic grocery bags to add height to the gifts then colored tissue paper. The final products ended up having items from Bath & Body Works respectively. The cans were wrapped with shrink wrap (use a heating tool for this, but a household blow-dryer should do the trick too) and tied it with colored curling ribbon. I forgot to mention that the girls helped me in the process! They spelled their teacher's name with the fun-foam letters and they also helped me choose the scents! Carolina found the pink Hello Kitty ribbon. She was so excited to have found this for me. I was only going to use a regular pink ribbon since there is limited products with the Hello Kitty theme. It was so special. She knew how important this was to find. I think they heard us scream at Hobby Lobby from all the excitement!

These are the perfect gifts for any occasion. All you would have to do is pick the theme papers you wish, coordinate, and mix & match. Plus, the cans can be used later and the recipient won't discard it because it can be used to store things inside and-it's especially personalized for them!
